MotoGP has shown off a render of the under-construction Indonesian Grand Prix circuit, located on the island of Lombok, which will join the calendar in 2021.
The street-style circuit will form part of a new development on the island, which sits to the east of Bali, a popular holiday destination.
2020欧洲杯体育投注网站Although the circuit will have a similar layout to that of a street circuit, it will meet top FIM safety standards with large run-off areas, which has been achieveable because the circuit doesn’t use existing roads, but will form part of a new hotel complex where the track will be used by the public when it isn’t needed for racing.
2020欧洲杯体育投注网站“We are very conscious that when we announced this project there was a reasonable amount of scepticism about the concept of a street circuit,” commented Mark Hughes of MRK1 Consulting, which is behind the circuit.
“We have to make very clear that the track has been designed and will be built to the appropriate FIM safety standards for MotoGP.”
The circuit will feature 19 corners and a total length of 4.3km. Several large grandstands will accomodate 50,000 spectators, plus general admission of up to 100,000.
Eleven hotels are planned for the complex with around 1,900 rooms, though Bali, which is just over an hour away by boat, is expected to provide the bulk of accommodation.
